The hospital is a 24/7 small animal practice and the hub of St George's 7 local branches, offering gold standard clinical and client care. You will have the pleasure of working with a lovely and experienced team of people including certificate holders, veterinary surgeons, new grads, RVN's, ACA's and receptionists.
We offer CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, physio, k-laser and a wide variety of cases and opportunities both surgically and medically. We are based in the city centre with excellent facilities to commute to and from Birmingham, Telford, Shrewsbury and parts of mid Wales.
This is a sole charge out of hours role working 7 nights on and 7 nights off alongside a small team of a RVN, an ACA and receptionist. The OOH service looks after our 7 branches plus 13 other local practices. It can get quite busy however there is a duty flat with an opportunity to have some sleep on most shifts as our experienced ACA will be on duty and awake all night. There is room in the hospital kennels area for up to 20 cases at one time although the average is usually 5-10. This is a great opportunity to be involved in interesting emergency cases such as GDV's, Cesareans, Pyometras, surgical investigations as well as medical cases.
This role requires a veterinary surgeon with a proven record of out of hours experience. An ECC certificate would be desirable or an interest in achieving one as the practice will financially support this. Good team leadership skills are essential as you will be working in a small team dealing with potentially stressful situations. You must have excellent communication skills and have the ability to deliver good client care during difficult conversations. You must have good organisational skills and be able to prioritise cases.
As a Disability Confident Employer we are keen to hear from candidates with disabilities and long term health conditions, and would be happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
