Joining our team
We’ve been growing the St George’s family for over 30 years, with many of our team working with us for a very long time. Would you like to join us?
We’re always interested in hearing from innovative and enthusiastic people, who are keen to work with us to keep the St George’s name as one of the leading veterinary practices in the West Midlands.
We are very proud of our brand and sharing our years of quality experience with our clients is something we all feel passionate and protective about. Every individual member of our team is encouraged and given the time to expand their knowledge and share their thoughts and ideas.

We’re based in the historic West Midlands – the land of narrowboat canals, locks and scenic pubs – and the endless rolling countryside of Shropshire and Staffordshire is also nearby. Whatever your interests, you’re never far away from a variety of activities, such as:
Shopping: Westfield Merry Hill, The Bullring, Trentham Gardens
Theatre and the arts: Grand Theatre Wolverhampton, Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham NIA/NEC/LG Arena
The outdoors: Cannock Chase, Pony Trekking, Go Ape, Segway activities, Snowdonia, Weston Park, Himley Hall, Ironbridge Gorge, Severn Valley Railway
Our work-based learning programme is primarily focused on student vets and student veterinary nurses. Occasionally, we also offer placements to local college students on various animal care courses.
If you’re interested in a career that involves working with animals, please feel free to download our factsheet about the various choices open to you and relevant information about each.
We’re often inundated with requests from school students requiring work experience placements, especially during the summer months when we’re at our busiest. Although St George’s Vets has previously invited students from schools across the West Midlands to come for work experience, we have found that we’re unable to invest the proper time and attention that these students deserve. We have therefore made the decision to no longer offer placements to students who are still at school.
We do however continue to attend career days in support of local schools – schools should email Hannah Fletcher to discuss this further.
We are proud to be a Training Practice and know that work-based learning placements are an essential part of any veterinary student’s qualification process. Practical experience is vital to support theoretical learning and is often a course requirement in order for students to achieve a qualification.
If you’re currently a college or university student and would like to apply for a work-based learning placement, please send a detailed covering letter and curriculum vitae (either by post or by email) for the attention of Hannah Fletcher.
